| A bit about Sheila: |

|
Sheila Shea-- singer, actor and all-around performer. Also a self-described book fiend, computer nerd, roller-coaster enthusiast, puzzle freak, film nut, music junkie, theatre geek, and learning addict. Sheila has a strong background in theatre, as she made it her livelihood for several years. She's been known to still take the occasional show when the right contract comes along, but mostly sticks to singing jazz these days. She's also no stranger to studio work and voice acting. While classically trained, she always knew she wanted to go beyond operatic works, ultimately finding her home in jazz. Her style varies widely, singing anywhere from bebop to bossa novas, and her influences are not limited to jazz artists. Favorites, to name a very few, include The Beatles, Carmen McRae, Queen, Dexter Gordon, The Grateful Dead, Cy Coleman and Eddie Jefferson. Joe Raposo (via Sesame Street) and Vince Guaraldi (by way of the Peanuts Gang) are definitely responsible for an early appreciation of jazz. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she has been seen performing in theatres and clubs on both US coasts and has performed as far away as Ireland. When not gigging, she can be found sitting in with friends here and there and exploring new venues in the place she happily now calls "home", New York City. |
